Use an Illinois property location
This guide groups the Illinois side of the Quad Cities with nearby enquiry communities. Moline, East Moline, Rock Island, Silvis and Milan are separate municipalities. Geneseo, Aledo, Kewanee and Galva add their own local circumstances; one city’s collection programme does not cover the whole group.
Use the town and ZIP where the belongings are, not the location of the family member sending the form. If an enquiry involves another state or multiple addresses, explain that clearly rather than selecting the closest name in the directory.
Check remaining-item arrangements by city
| City resource | Published distinction to check directly |
|---|---|
| Moline | Bulky-item service is requested in advance, with an annual allowance and size/weight conditions. |
| Rock Island | Residential customers have an appointment-based special pickup option, with its own rules. |
| Other listed communities | Check the property’s local authority or contracted hauler; neither of the above is a regional entitlement. |
Keep the review of saleable contents separate from a disposal booking. A special pickup is not an estate valuation or an agreement to sort the home. A contents purchase likewise needs an explicit list of what will be removed and what remains.
A shop and a living space need a clear inventory
Geneseo’s published property exceptions and East Moline’s separate business and larger-building arrangements make the property type worth identifying early. The Geneseo notes below explain the collection distinction; use the stock checklist below to organise owned inventory, reserved pieces and personal belongings.
Prepare the contents for review
For business stock, use the shared inventory checklist . For a home, the inherited-contents guide explains family keeps and the available group. Send the actual property location, deadline and access details for review from Canton.
Find guidance for your community
Open a local guide or use the notes below before sending photographs. Enter the property's actual town and ZIP, even when your own address is elsewhere.
Moline
Moline’s residential bulky pickup has an annual allowance with a 2.5 cubic yard or 100 lb limit, and some materials are excluded. Request the collection before relying on a date. A roomful of heavy furniture can need a different arrangement, so show the full available group and any remaining-removal requirement in your estate enquiry.

Rock Island
Rock Island lists an annual residential special pickup by appointment and a separate refuse/yard-waste drop-off option. Confirm the items, account eligibility and appointment before a property handover. These are Rock Island’s arrangements; Moline’s bulky limits and booking process should not be substituted for them.

East Moline
East Moline separates its contracted residential collection from dumpster arrangements for businesses and buildings with three or more dwellings. Say whether the contents are in a house, apartment building or shop. For anything not purchased, check the existing property contract before assuming a household collection programme will take the remainder.

Silvis
Silvis’s 2026 notice lists its fall cleanup for September 21–25, with items out by 6 a.m. Monday regardless of the regular trash day. It also says crews will not make a return pass and excludes appliances and electronics. Check the city notice for current instructions; keep anything still being considered for sale separate from the disposal pile.

Milan
Milan asks for Monday bulky-pickup requests by 11 a.m. the preceding Friday. It describes a truck-bed volume limit, an annual pickup allowance and exclusions including appliances and electronics. When a handover depends on several pieces leaving, confirm the whole remaining group before using that collection as your plan.

Geneseo
Geneseo places commercial premises with housing above outside its residential collection contract. Its household large-item terms also describe a one-item monthly allowance and a requirement that one person can load it. Check which arrangement applies to each part of a mixed shop and living space before counting on curbside collection.
Photograph owned shop stock, consigned or reserved goods, display furniture and personal belongings as separate groups. Say whether a photographed cabinet includes its contents and identify each storage address. Explain the closure or handover deadline, stairs and carrying route. A stock enquiry concerns the available goods; a building, lease or operating business requires a separate discussion.

Aledo
Aledo’s fall 2026 cleanup notice divides the town at Highway 17: October 5 for the north side and October 12 for the south side, with a 4 a.m. set-out time. Check the full city instructions and accepted items before planning around it. Tell us which contents remain available if another collection is already scheduled.

Kewanee
Kewanee’s household pickup is contracted to LRS, while the city operates its transfer station. Use the station’s own allowable-items guidance for a self-hauled remainder and confirm the load before travelling; the city also requires truck loads to be tarped. An ordinary trash calendar does not establish transfer-station acceptance.

Galva
Galva’s utility page describes first-Wednesday large-item pickup with a required sticker. Its ordinary garbage routes differ north and south of the railroad tracks, and service setup is linked to the water account. Check the actual property’s arrangements before choosing a final clearance date, especially when the house is changing hands.

Confirm eligibility and current arrangements with each independent service before booking or travelling. A contents enquiry does not reserve a visit or arrange disposal.
